Houston Intermodal Terminal & District
Houston, Texas
A future Intermodal Terminal will be located just north of Houston’s central business district, in the vicinity of the existing Judge Hernandez Tunnel where Main Street crosses under the existing Union Pacific Railroad. The terminal will consist of a future LRT station and future stations for other modes of transportation, including commuter rail, METRO bus, private bus, and high-speed rail. The terminal will be located along the proposed North Corridor, an extension of the existing METRO LRT rail line, at approximately half-mile north of the METRORail University of Houston Downtown station.
Around the future Intermodal Terminal, METRO intends to develop an Intermodal District that includes future phases of mixed use development and the infrastructure to support both the Intermodal Terminal itself and the development of land within the District. The District is defined principally by the land between Hogan Street to the north, I-10 to the south, White Oak Bayou to the West, and a future extension of San Jacinto Street to the east.
